My first memory of Ann is that she was very well-spoken. Our first meeting took place in my back yard when I was outside working on a rock and flower garden. Way back then, 48 years ago, when we had all moved into the 7300 block of Valley Avenue there were no fences separating the yards. As I was working in the garden, Ann came over and said, "I just came over to see what you are working on so diligently." She then introduced herself and we became friends. She founded and was the first president of the Valley View Civic Association and she recruited me to be the recording secretary. I fondly remember many planning sessions in her kitchen over coffee. Our youngest children, Ann's Ami and my Timmy were born only months apart and were playmates growing up. I was sad when Ann moved from Valley Avenue. I miss her smile and her friendship.
